The goal of this FREE event is to provide insight into various career pathways that can be filled by a CEP. Our panel of experts will tell you a little about what they do and how being a CEP helped them get there as well as be successful in their role. We will discuss topics from the highs/lows of each pathway, tips for preparation for and success in the role, finding jobs in the field, and more. There will be adequate time for questions throughout the panel.

Rebecca Kappus, Ph.D., ACSM-CEP – Academia

Dr. Kappus is associate professor of exercise science at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She is director of the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, and manages the Graduate Clinical Exercise Science program, which includes internship placements and mentorship.

She also teaches at Carroll University and assists with research studies at Marquette University as well as the Medical College of Wisconsin in cardio-oncology exercise trials.

She holds several certifications in the areas of Health and Wellness coaching as well as functional assessment and training. Kelsey has 10+ years of leadership experience in health, wellness, and fitness in healthcare and corporate wellness with both Lehigh Valley Health Network and Inova Health System.

Mary Hiddle, Ph.D., ACSM-CEP – Clinical Research

Dr. Hidde completed her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Indiana University, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Ball State University. This led to taking a position as an Oncology/Hematology Clinical Research Coordinator in Chicago where she is developing a passion for clinical research. This led to her pursuing a PhD in Human Bioenergetics at Colorado State University. Wanting to return to the world of clinical trial development and implementation following her post-doctoral research fellowship at The Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Hidde accepted the Clinical Trial Manager position with Medpace where she has been working since December 2022.
